Busy times are ahead for Scotty McCreery! He released his latest single “Small Town Story” October 21 as part of a deluxe release of his latest album Same Truck. Most importantly, he and his wife Gabi are expecting a baby boy! “We always knew we wanted kids, but we always knew we wanted the first few years to travel and have time on the road, to see things and experience life,” Scotty McCreery says about his growing family. “We’ve gotten to live a lot of life and do some cool things, so seems like now’s a good time to settle down a little and expand the family.”
“Small Town Story” is a quintessential biographical song. Scotty reminisces about growing up, getting his first guitar, playing sports, falling in love. It is backed by a classic country melody a biographical song like this needs to work as perfectly as it does. Scotty shows he’s been through so much in his short life.
Then I saw your blue eyes
And you smile back at me
Just a matter of time
Til I was down on one knee
It was just black and white
Then it all came to light
When I met you that night
That’s when I started to write
The small town story of my life
Poignantly, the song ends with the lines “Are we talking kids? / We’re gonna have to see”. Well he kinda spoiled that tease! Scotty will be taking a bit of a paternity leave once he finishes up a run of shows in the coming weeks. We’re certain he’ll be sharing photos of the new addition to his family, so follow Scotty McCreery on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for the fun updates! In the meantime, stream “Small Town Story” below. The deluxe release of Same Truck, featuring “Small Town Story”, as well as five additional tracks, releases November 18.
