Tulip Drive, the third album released by mega-star Jimmie Allen, derives it’s name from the street his grandmother lived on in Lewes, Delaware. That home holds a lot of memories for Jimmie. “This is the first where I chose to write songs about my own personal experiences, thoughts and hopes,” he recollects. It’s a fitting tribute for what turns out to be an excellent album.
A couple of weeks ago, Jimmie Allen previewed some of the tracks appearing on Tulip Drive. By far the standout is “Down Home”. The song is a tribute to Jimmie’s father James, who passed away in 2019. “I wrote it about my father – kind of like, hopefully he’s in heaven and looking down on everything I’m doing and hope he’d be proud of me,” Jimmie says of “Down Home”. It’ll definitely pull at your heartstrings. Also released was “Settle On Back”, a reflective track on the joys of taking it easy. “On My Way” features a surprise appearance of Jennifer Lopez. The pair first met during American Idol, when J.Lo was a judge and Jimmie was a contestant! Her voice takes a gentle turn which pairs well with Jimmie’s power.
Tulip Drive is packed with 14 other awesome tracks. In “Be Alright”, Jimmie sings about positive self-talk and finding your peace. There’s “Habits & Hearts”, a powerful piano ballad highlighting the struggle between difficult choices. “Keep Em Coming” is about chasing the good times.

There are some fun collaborations on Tulip Drive. Jimmie Allen teams up with CeeLo Green and T-Pain for the Latin-infused dance track “Pesos”. He teams up with Katie Ohh on “Broken Hearted”, a song about a teetering relationship and the navigation through the struggles. “You Won’t Be Alone” reminds listeners that there’s always someone in their corner. It has a special collaboration: Jimmie’s son Aadyn introduces the track!
“This is the first album where every song on the album is directly from a moment in my life. This is a part of my career and my musical journey that I’ve been wanting to share, you know? Something a little bit more personal,” Jimmie says on how he hopes the impact of this album will be felt. All 17 tracks on this album pack a punch.
