Favorite Albums of 2017

As we start this new year, we at Nash in Tune wanted to reminisce and share our favorite albums of 2017. So many artists released new music, so we chose our absolute favorites to share with our readers.

Thomas Rhett- “Life Changes”

There’s one artist in Country music who most definitely had an “Unforgettable” year. From his upbeat “Craving You” with Maren Morris to the powerful hit “Marry Me”, Thomas Rhett’s Life Changes album is shows so many sides of TR. He was able to push the boundaries of country music and create hits that everyone can jam along to. His true self is portrayed in this album to show who he is currently in life. And to top it all off, Thomas Rhett’s newfound family, from the adoption of Willa Gray and birth of Ada James, is the absolute best thing that happened this year. We can’t wait to see him on his Life Changes tour!

Brett Kissel- “We Were That Song”

It’s no surprise that Brett Kissel made our list. The talented Canadian country singer wowed us with his performances at The Basement in Nashville and left us itching for the album to be released. Every song on the album is extremely catchy and will be stuck in your head for what feels like forever. Kissel was able to mesh a cool combination of sounds and styles to make a truly unique album. We hope to see a lot more of Brett in Nashville in 2018.

Old Dominion- “Happy Endings”

Old Dominion had one awesome year in 2017 from award nominations to number 1 hits and the release of their second album. To follow up an album like “Meat and Candy” is quite the task, but guys of Old Dominion were up to the challenge. The songwriting for this album is unmatched. Every song has a completely different feel from the last, but when put all together on a single album, it just works. The cleverness of the lyrics to songs like “Shoe Shopping” and “Written in the Sand” leave us wondering how it took them so long to get so big!

Russell Dickerson- “Yours”

You know we can’t forget our boy RD! And the fact that every song on the album pretty much form a love letter to his wife Kailey gives us serious #relationshipgoals. The album is sexy, fun, serious, quirky, and everything we could want in an album. His debut single, and title song for the album, “Yours” hit the Top 5 on the charts in 2017. RD was also named one of Spotify’s RISE artists and toured with both Thomas Rhett and Florida Georgia Line this year, and the artistry in this album shows why he deserves every bit of it.

Miranda Lambert- “Weight of These Wings”

We may not have seen as much come from Miranda this year in terms of radio singles, but we heard so much with her extremely daring and emotional album. She put out a double album, DOUBLE ALBUM in an industry dominated by singles, and absolutely blew us all away. And the fact that every song has a different sound to it and with an album with that many options, there is a song appropriate for every mood. The album includes probably one of the best songs released in 2017, “Tin Man.” Miranda is showing a male artist dominated genre that she can go head to head with them and win.
