“In the midst of everything that has happened, I said that I would continue to sing,” says Wynonna Judd, noting her dedication to her craft following the tragic death of her mother Naomi. A few weeks following her mother’s passing, Wynonna released the single “Other Side” with indie folk artist Waxahatchee. It seems like an opportune time for this song to be released with its theme of determination. “We recorded ‘Other Side’ in the studio here on the farm and it was one of my favorite recording experiences ever. I’m thankful for the opportunity to sing with the next generation of greatness,” continues Wynonna.
Wynonna and Waxahatchee, the alias of Katie Crutchfield, compliment each other beatufiully with their different singing styles. Wynonna belts out her words with power and conviction, which we can expect even more strength when she performs this song live. Waxahatchee has a more gentle timbre to her voice. Together, they weave an inspirational tale of willpower.
I got a heart, heart of gold
Casts a shadow, dark and cold
If we move our way against the tide
There’s something on the other side
The other side
“Wynonna is an icon and a fountain of wisdom. Sharing space with her to create something new was really nothing but a joy and an honor. Her spirit inspires me daily and her continued encouragement has meant the world,” Waxahatchee says as she heaps praise unto Wynonna. This song is an excellent song for anyone in need of encouragement. Stream “Other Side” below. Follow Wynonna on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
