Kameron Marlowe shared the title track of his upcoming first full album, “We Were Cowboys” on July 8. This track is an ode to the Western outlaws Kameron admired growing up and the influence they had on him as he came into his own. “I’ve been working on this project for the better part of two years, and I’ve lived a lot of life in that time,” Kameron says of this upcoming project.
In “We Were Cowboys”, Kameron Marlowe sings about how he was shaped by heroes of Westerns like John Wayne. He reminisces about how he grew up playing cowboy as a kid and how he turned that into his rebellious teenage phase. Clint Eastwood is noted as another influential figure in his youth. This track exudes nostalgia and the feelings of being free and restless.
We were cowboys
Runnin’ like wild horses that couldn’t be tamed
We were cowboys
Didn’t know nothing but we knew everything
We never made it eight, never won a buckle
But man, we were something
“This album encapsulates it all – nostalgia, romance, heartbreak, and everything in between. I couldn’t be prouder of this project, and I’m incredibly excited for fans to get a deeper look at who I am through these songs,” Kameron continues to tease about this release. The album We Were Cowboys has an August 26 release. In the meantime, stream the single “We Were Cowboys” below. Follow Kameron Marlowe on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
