Jess Moskaluke released her latest single “Knock Off” July 8. The Canadian songstress has made waves throughout the Canadian country scene over the course of her career. She was the first Canadian female country singer since Shania Twain to reach CRIA (Canandian Recording Industry Association) Platinum status with her single “Cheap Wine And Cigarettes”. She has six top ten hits in the Canadian charts. She’s also charted in Australia. Jess Moskaluke has her eyes on an ever-so elusive spot on American charts.
“Knock Off” has the fire and vigor to do just that! With swinging, sorta throwback guitars and a fun drum machine beat, “Knock Off” will get listeners off their seats and dancing. Jess’ vocal tone has a Carrie-esque strength and quality to it, especially evident during the choruses. “Knock Off” is about Jess seeing her ex with a cheap replacement. He can’t have the real thing anymore, so he had to settle for something lesser than. The sass of the track is lots of fun, and it will definitely notch Jess Moskaluke many new fans.
You couldn’t get the real thing so you got the knock off
But I bet she ain’t got a kiss like mine
Yeah, she might be checking every lookalike box off
But there ain’t a way to fake a one of a kind
It’s like you traded top shelf for a cheap drink
Boy, I guess you couldn’t get the real thing
So you got the knock off
Ooh yeah, you got the knock off
