Miranda Lambert shows off that rambunctious side fans have come to know and love in a different sort of sound on “Actin’ Up”, her latest venture. Mixing a bluesy and rock sound bolsters the raucous nature of the track. She first performed the track at the C2C Festival in London in March. She also surprised patrons of her Casa Rosa bar in Nashville with a performance of this song and others on April 3rd.
The lyrics take listeners on an adventure of cheeky rhymes and pop culture references. She names Elvis, Tiger Woods, and Billy Bob Thornton in the track. She paints a vivid picture of her wild attitude in her chorus:
I want a sunset ride, a velvet rodeo
A Colorado high, a California glow
I want to see the desert from a painted palomino
Senorita need to have a little fun
I’m actin’ up
Note how she not only name drops her upcoming album Palomino in the chorus, she also name drops her Las Vegas residency show name Velvet Rodeo in there as well! She named her residency as such after being inspired from this song. There’s no doubt about it that fans will hear “Actin’ Up” when they see her perform then.
“I hope y’all are ready to travel with us wandering spirits and meet some cool characters with great stories,” Miranda says in anticipation of the release of Palomino. The album is due to drop April 29th. We’re looking forward to its release! In the meantime, stream “Actin’ Up” below.
