Brett Eldredge has announced a new album titled Songs About You, due to be released June 17th. With that announcement came the release of a new single, the titular “Songs About You”.  Reflecting on the inspiration for “Songs About You”, Brett says, “There are songs that just transport you back in time to a moment with someone you love.” The lamenting nature of the song rings true throughout as different songs he encounters throughout this tale remind him of a former love. Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing In The Dark” and Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” trigger memories of love lost.

Cause sometimes they make me dance

Sometimes they make me cry

Sometimes they make wish

That I had never said goodbye

Now I’m just tryna get through

These songs about you

Also featured on the LP he released April 22nd are two previously shared songs. “Want That Back” and “Holy Water” both highlight Brett’s soulful sound. They are both tender ballads, the former about longing for the past and the latter about how the revitalization power of love.

“I knew exactly what I wanted to say and what I wanted the album to sound like,” Brett says of his upcoming album. This new album will also be called Songs About You. “I wanted the album to be songs that connect us all in the human experience. These are emotions that are reflective of each of us. There are songs of solitude, joy and heartbreak, and I like that tension,” he continues. Stream “Songs About You” below.
