Ingrid Andress released her latest single “Seeing Someone Else” on May 13th. The new track is a song of longing. Ingrid is in the perspective of someone going through change and their partner longing for the person of the past. “We all grow and change, but not everyone wants us to. Some people want to keep you exactly where you are for as long as possible, even if it’s hurting you. Sometimes you don’t even realize it’s happening,” Ingrid shared on her Instagram.

“Seeing Someone Else” starts out very tender, where it sounds like Ingrid speculates on her ex’s new love interest. As the song progresses, listeners realize she’s singing about a past version of herself and how her love sees her. The rising emotion of the bridge increases Ingrid’s vulnerability. With dramatic strings and chilling bells, the drama heightens the dread one feels when their partner is stuck in a rut.

I think you’re seeing someone else
I think you’re seeing who I used to be
I think you wish I was the girl that you met
Out at a bar making a mess of 23And if you’re honest with yourself
You know you’re hanging onto history
Yeah, yeah, you say you’re still in love
But it’s so obvious when you look at meI think you’re seeing someone else

“But then one day you wake up and decide the person they want you to be isn’t you anymore, so you pack your sh-t and break free from their grip. I hope this song makes you feel as liberated as I felt when writing it,” continues Ingrid. Stream “Seeing Someone Else below”.
