Texas country star Kimberly Kelly released her first album with Show Dog Nashville, “I’ll Tell You What’s Gonna Happen” on July 8. Kimberly Kelly has been hard at work, and it’s not just with her music. She earned a Master’s degree while concurrently honing her craft as a musician. “This is not my first rodeo. I worked really hard in Texas before I came to Nashville. I wrote songs, put out records, did a radio tour, and played every weekend while going to school and working full-time,” Kimberly says of the work she’s put in over the years.

The title of the album comes from her friend, the late Billy Joe Shaver. It comes from a silly confrontation Shaver had with Waylon Jennings over an attempt to get Jennings to listen to a song Shaver cut. From that spat came a legendary quote, “I’ll tell you what’s gonna happen.”

Take a listen to some of the tracks that have culminated into this standout debut album. “Honky Tonk Town” starts off the album. This banger is guaranteed to get listeners on their feet! “Blue Jean Country Queen” features Steve Wariner. This track stars the talk of the town, the belle of the ball, that one-in-a-million girl that has all the heads turning. “I Remember That Woman” is a reflective track where she sees herself in others who are in the process of growing up. “Some Things Have A Name” is a breakup tale, where she gives her cheating partner what he deserves. Also on the album is a cover of Shaver’s “Black Rose” as a tribute and thanks for the album title.

“I’m feeling a mix of emotions with the release. I feel like I’m letting go of the ace in my pocket, yet at the same time so proud to share this batch of songs that I believe in!” reflects Kimberly.
