2022 ACM Entertainer of the Year Miranda Lambert has released her much-anticipated album Palomino! Palomino takes listeners on an exciting journey across the American soundscape, and Miranda Lambert eagerly captains the adventure. “I had my own style, and sometimes it didn’t fit in that lane that was the fast track. It made my road longer at certain times in my career,” Miranda says reflecting on the lead-up to Palomino.
Miranda released several tracks as promotional singles prior to the release of Palomino. “If I Was A Cowboy” is a Western-inspired track daydreaming of the vagabond lifestyle. “Actin’ Up” highlights her rebellious nature. It’s a rockin’ track with the attitude to match! “Strange” is Miranda’s journey of wading through troubled times. It serves as a great way to cope with uncertainties.
Palomino features several tracks serving as the backdrop for Miranda’s cross-country journey. “Music City Queen” features The B-52’s in a tribute to riverboating. The styles of the group mesh well with Miranda, presenting an interesting twist. “Tourist” is a wistful track about trying to find your place in the world. Miranda sings about taking snapshots of places she’s been and only being able to hold on to those brief moments as she finds her place. Listeners should also pay attention to “Geraldene”. It’s a nod to Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” in the same vein as a love triangle. However, the titular Geraldene comes across as trashy and not in the same league as Jolene.
These new tracks as well as her classics are bound to appear in her set during her Las Vegas residency. The title of her residency comes from the track “Actin’ Up!” To get ready for these concerts, stream Palomino below!
