Triple the album, triple the fun! Zach Bryan released American Heartbreak, his long-awaited debut album on a major label. American Heartbreak is already making waves as it has become the most streamed country album in a single day so far this year on both Spotify and Apple Music. “This album to me is all the trials we face day-in and day out and I wrote all the stories on it hoping someone, somewhere might relate or some kid might pick up an instrument and replicate it in an effort to be an artist,” Zach Bryan said in a post on his Instagram.
American Heartbreak packs a whopping 34 tracks into two hours of the Zach Bryan sound that has made him immensely popular. Zach fuses together different sounds to craft his melodies and pours his heart out when he writes. It’s pretty difficult where to begin when discussing American Heartbreak. The easiest place to start is “Something In The Orange”. This track has amassed over a billion streams over several platforms and currently sits at number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Zach’s gritty intonations add a passion and pain to his songs. One example is “’68 Fastback”. He alludes that his heart and his feelings are like an old car used for spare parts for other needs without regard to his well-being. “Sober Side Of Sorry” is more up-tempo. He laments on the feeling of being apologetic after causing pain following a bender.
It’s not all sorrow and hurt on American Heartbreak. “Highway Boys” tackles the chase of dreams through it’s gentle tones. “Whiskey Fever” is a fun, almost rockabilly throwback about nightlife thrills. It’s a danceable adventure through twists and turns. “If She Wants A Cowboy” is one of the most fun tracks on the album. Zach pokes fun at the cookie-cutter Nashville pop country acts, thinking his love interest wants a legitimate cowboy when she really is after a bro country dude. The burn against the big labels is piping hot!
