4 Easy TikTok Recipes Worth Trying

tiktok recipes

As I sit at home on who knows what day of quarantine, I find myself downloading the app, TikTok. My “For You” page had thankfully been filled with lots of people my age in the same mindset that we are too old for this app, but it is a great way to pass time. I haven’t resorted to making a video yet, but I have tried a few things I learned on the app. Some of the best things I have learned are TikTok recipes. I went to work trying a few recipes to find those I would actually recommend. Four great recipes are below.

Breakfast Burrito

Breakfast burritos are a pretty simple thing to make, but usually can require a few pans and longer wait times, but not with with this recipe. This uses one pan and the entire burrito is prepared together and ready in minutes!

What you will need:

  • Tortilla
  • 2 eggs
  • Butter
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Fillings: Diced ham, bacon, cheese (suggested)
  • Optional – salsa

Directions

  1. Melt butter in a pan and scramble the eggs with salt and pepper
  2. Pour eggs into the pan
  3. Place tortilla directly over raw eggs. Let eggs cook
  4. Flip tortillas and add fillings. you can fold at this point and flip to cook the top of the burrito or just let the burrito cook flat while toppings melt. If you haven’t folded it, do that now. Top with salsa if desired.

Microwave Zucchini Lasagna

This one is particularly great because it can be made in the microwave, so its dorm friendly and you do not have to use the oven in the summer that heats up the whole house just to have lasagna. This recipe is SO simple, quick, one dish, and healthier.

What you will need:

  • Zucchini
  • Small curb cottage cheese
  • mozzarella
  • parmesan cheese
  • tomato sauce
  • optional meats: Ground beef/turkey/chicken, soy crumbles, or sliced meatballs
  • Seasonings – Salt, Pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic powder

Directions

  1. Get a small microwaveable glass container. Place a layer of cottage cheese on the bottom. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Stir to combine seasonings with cottage cheese.
  2. Add layer of parmesan cheese, a layer of mozzarella, and a layer of pasta sauce.
  3. Thinly slice the zucchini (you can do it long ways or in to rounds). Press water out of sliced zucchini using a paper towel. Lay down your zucchini mock noodles.
  4. Add layer of your meat choice, another layer of mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Add another layer of zucchini, followed by a layer of meat and sauce. repeat until your container is filled. Top with cheese and Italian seasoning.
  5. Throw it into the microwave for 5 minutes. Make sure to use potholder to remove from microwave, because it will be hot!

3 Ingredient Crème Brûlée

So this is the most time consuming of the recipes in this list, but it also is my favorite! The original recipe only uses 3 ingredients, but I found I needed 4 because I have better success using the wet method instead of the dry method for caramelizing sugar. While this takes a lot of time to make, most of that time is baking and cooling, the actual active cooking time is very short.

What you will need:

  • 1 egg yolk
  • Ice Cream (I recommend Bluebell homemade vanilla)
  • Sugar
  • Water (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat the over to 325.
  2. Melt 1/2 cup of ice cream in the microwave (about 30-45 seconds).
  3. While ice cream is cooling, slightly crack 1 egg and separate the yolk. Drop the yolk into the melted ice cream and mix it.
  4. Find an overproof ramekin and pour the ice cream egg mixture into the ramekin.
  5. Pour hot water into a baking pan. Place the ramekin into the baking pan filled with hot water. Bake for 40 – 50 minutes.
  6. Carefully remove from oven. Take the ramekin out of the water bath and let the custard cool until it is room temperature. Tightly wrap the top of the ramekin with plastic wrap and place it into the fridge for at least 2 hours, but up to 3 days.
  7. Once chilled, remove from the fridge. The dry method for this step is in the tiktok video, while the wet method involves mixing at least 1/2 tablespoon of sugar and add a little water. Stir together. Make sure this mixture is in a clear glass container.
  8. Place into microwave starting at one minute and adding 30 second increments. When you see the color of the liquid change from clear to amber/brownish, stop and quickly pour this mixture onto the custard. Swirl the liquid around over the custard quickly. Wait a few moments and then crack into your crème brûlée!

White Claw Slushies

This recipe is best enjoyed poolside, but since most of use are lacking a pool at the moment, it is great to transport you to pretending you are pool side! Also, if you start experimenting now with different fruit and white claw flavor combinations now you should have the perfect mix by the time it’s safe to stop self isolating.

What you will need:

  • White Claw (any flavor)
  • Frozen Fruit
  • Vodka
  • Ginger ale/ Sprite
  • Ice cubes

Directions

  1. Place ice into a blender, followed by frozen fruit.
  2. Pour in some White Claw (I used about half a can).
  3. Pour in a few pulls of vodka and top with soda of your choosing.
  4. Blend for a few minutes. Pour into a cup or add a lid to your blender cup and enjoy!
